My aching head is splitting at the seam,
With heavy thoughts that crowd in all at once.
I chase the ghost of every wasted dream,
And wonder if my mind can bear the nonce.
The moments pass, forever slipped away,
As though tomorrow might rewrite the past.
Yet nothing shifts, and nothing rules the day;
I feel the heavy die has long been cast.
I’m tired of stumbling through this dazed routine,
Of feeling foolish, helpless, and absurd.
I wish to end the quiet, tense machine,
Yet find my thoughts are tangled and deferred.
My spirit fights the trap it wanders in,
And spins around where endless griefs begin.
